Turkey - Intentional self-harm

In 2018 occurred 3,339 suicides in Türkiye. This year, 609 more people committed suicide than in 2017. In 2018, on average 9 Turks committed suicide every day.

Türkiye had 4.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.42 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 3,339 recorded suicide cases in 2018, 2,526 were men suicides and 813 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.19 per 100,000 men and for women 2.01 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Türkiye suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,161 homicides in Türkiye, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.5 suicides.
