There are 33 suicides per day in South Korea

In 2005 occurred 12,096 suicides in South Korea. This year, 528 more people committed suicide than in 2004. In 2005, on average 33 South Koreans committed suicide every day.

South Korea had 25.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.34 suicides per 100,000 people.

South Korea has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 12,096 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 8,074 were men suicides and 4,022 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 33.3 per 100,000 men and for women 16.8 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In South Korea suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 411 homicides in South Korea, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 29.4 suicides.
