Slovenia has a very high suicide rate

In 2004 around 512 suicides occurred in Slovenia, 50 less than in 2003. In Slovenia, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Slovenia reported 25.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.53 suicides per 100,000 people.

Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 512 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 370 were men suicides and 142 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 37.9 per 100,000 men and for women 13.9 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 27 homicides in Slovenia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 19 suicides.
