In 2023 around 364 suicides occurred in Slovenia, 43 less than in 2022.
Slovenia reported 17.14 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.11 suicides per 100,000 people.
Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 364 recorded suicide cases in 2023, 301 were men suicides and 63 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 28.17 per 100,000 men and for women 5.97 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 12 homicides in Slovenia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 30.3 suicides.
