Number of suicides falls in Serbia

In 2016 occurred 962 suicides in Serbia. This year, 102 fewer people committed suicide than in 2015. On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

Serbia had 13.64 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.41 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 962 recorded suicide cases in 2016, 704 were men suicides and 258 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.48 per 100,000 men and for women 7.15 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Serbia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 116 homicides in Serbia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.3 suicides.
