Suicides grow in Senegal

By 2015, suicides in Senegal increased by 11 people to at 918 suicides On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

In Senegal there were 6.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 918 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 689 were men suicides and 229 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.77 per 100,000 men and for women 3.14 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Senegal suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 39 homicides in Senegal, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 23.5 suicides.
