Serbia - Intentional self-harm

In 2023 occurred 668 suicides in Serbia. This year, 102 fewer people committed suicide than in 2022. In Serbia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Serbia had 10.11 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.14 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 668 recorded suicide cases in 2023, 496 were men suicides and 172 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.44 per 100,000 men and for women 5.07 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Serbia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 89 homicides in Serbia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 7.5 suicides.
