Moldova has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 827 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 689 were men suicides and 138 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 40.08 per 100,000 men and for women 7.37 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Moldova suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 296 homicides in Moldova, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.8 suicides.
