Number of suicides falls in Moldova

In 2022 occurred 359 suicides in Moldova. This year, 242 fewer people committed suicide than in 2015.

Moldova had 14.29 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.15 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 359 recorded suicide cases in 2022, 312 were men suicides and 47 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.27 per 100,000 men and for women 3.55 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Moldova suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death.
