There are 25 suicides per day in Mexico

In 2023 around 9,072 suicides occurred in Mexico, 833 more than in 2022. In 2023, on average 25 Mexicans committed suicide every day.

Mexico reported 6.99 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.12 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 9,072 recorded suicide cases in 2023, 6,772 were men suicides and 1,550 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.7 per 100,000 men and for women 2.4 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 2023 there were there were 32,252 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 3.6 homicides per suicide.
