Mongolia has a very high suicide rate

In 2015 occurred 836 suicides in Mongolia. This year, 6 fewer people committed suicide than in 2014. On average, there are 2 suicides per day.

Mongolia had 27.35 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.49 suicides per 100,000 people.

Mongolia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 836 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 700 were men suicides and 136 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 47.5 per 100,000 men and for women 9.15 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Mongolia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 214 homicides in Mongolia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.9 suicides.
