Suicides decreased in Israel

In 2007 around 326 suicides occurred in Israel, 41 less than in 2006.

Israel reported 4.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 326 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 263 were men suicides and 63 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.4 per 100,000 men and for women 1.7 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Israel suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 135 homicides in Israel, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.4 suicides.
