Number of suicides falls in Israel

In 2021 occurred 395 suicides in Israel. This year, 42 fewer people committed suicide than in 2020. In Israel, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Israel had 4.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.14 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 395 recorded suicide cases in 2021, 299 were men suicides and 96 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.4 per 100,000 men and for women 2 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Israel suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 173 homicides in Israel, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.3 suicides.
