By 2023, suicides in Italy increased by 85 people to at 3,821 suicides In 2023, on average 10 Italians committed suicide every day.

In Italy there were 6.48 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.13 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 3,821 recorded suicide cases in 2023, 2,969 were men suicides and 852 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.29 per 100,000 men and for women 2.83 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Italy suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 338 homicides in Italy, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.3 suicides.
