Of the 2,119 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 1,652 were men suicides and 467 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.8 per 100,000 men and for women 2.2 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2005 there were there were 18,111 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 8.5 homicides per suicide.
