In 2015 occurred 138,622 suicides in China. This year, 1,324 more people committed suicide than in 2014. In 2015, on average 380 Chinese committed suicide every day.

China had 10.02 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.47 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 138,622 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 76,844 were women and 61,779 were men. More women than men die by suicide each year, and is among the few countries where the female rate is higher than the male rate.11.4 women per 100.000 female cause their own deaths and 8.75 men per 100.000 male. and it is also one of the countries with the highest rate of female suicides in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In China suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 9,200 homicides in China, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 15.1 suicides.
