In 2020 occurred 2,748 suicides in Colombia. This year, 179 fewer people committed suicide than in 2019. In 2020, on average 8 Colombians committed suicide every day.

Colombia had 5.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.27 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,748 recorded suicide cases in 2020, 2,215 were men suicides and 533 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.8 per 100,000 men and for women 2.1 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2020 there were there were 11,452 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 4.2 homicides per suicide.
