In 2021 around 3,047 suicides occurred in Colombia, 299 more than in 2020. In 2021, on average 8 Colombians committed suicide every day.

Colombia reported 6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.14 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 3,047 recorded suicide cases in 2021, 2,465 were men suicides and 582 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.9 per 100,000 men and for women 2.2 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2021 there were there were 13,144 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 4.3 homicides per suicide.
