In Zambia there were 6.42 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 818 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 625 were men suicides and 194 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.32 per 100,000 men and for women 3.05 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Zambia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 797 homicides in Zambia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1 suicides.
