Yemen - Intentional self-harm

In 2015 occurred 2,204 suicides in Yemen. This year, 48 more people committed suicide than in 2014. In 2015, on average 6 Yemenis committed suicide every day.

Yemen had 8.19 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,204 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 1,436 were men suicides and 767 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.95 per 100,000 men and for women 5.45 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Yemen suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,703 homicides in Yemen, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.3 suicides.
