Suicides decreased in Solomon Islands

In 2004 around 42 suicides occurred in Solomon Islands, 3 less than in 2003.

Solomon Islands reported 9.16 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.53 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 42 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 30 were men suicides and 12 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.52 per 100,000 men and for women 5.08 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Solomon Islands suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 20 homicides in Solomon Islands, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.1 suicides.
