Number of suicides falls in Oman

In 2005 occurred 99 suicides in Oman. This year, 4 fewer people committed suicide than in 2004.

Oman had 3.78 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.34 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 99 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 87 were men suicides and 12 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.06 per 100,000 men and for women 1.13 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Oman suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 53 homicides in Oman, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.9 suicides.
