Suicides increase in Norway

In 2016 occurred 627 suicides in Norway. This year, 29 more people committed suicide than in 2015. In Norway, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Norway had 11.83 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.41 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 627 recorded suicide cases in 2016, 429 were men suicides and 198 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.97 per 100,000 men and for women 7.62 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Norway suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 27 homicides in Norway, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 23.2 suicides.
