Of the 4,394 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 3,546 were men suicides and 762 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.7 per 100,000 men and for women 1.4 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 2007 there were there were 8,867 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2 homicides per suicide.
