There are 10 suicides per day in Italy

In 2018 around 3,788 suicides occurred in Italy, 152 less than in 2017. In 2018, on average 10 Italians committed suicide every day.

Italy reported 6.16 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.42 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 3,788 recorded suicide cases in 2018, 2,914 were men suicides and 874 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.71 per 100,000 men and for women 2.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Italy suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 359 homicides in Italy, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 10.6 suicides.
