Number of suicides falls in Estonia

In 2015 occurred 203 suicides in Estonia. This year, 39 fewer people committed suicide than in 2014.

Estonia had 15.74 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 203 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 166 were men suicides and 37 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 27.61 per 100,000 men and for women 5.29 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 45 homicides in Estonia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.5 suicides.
