Suicides increase in Estonia

In 2022 occurred 193 suicides in Estonia. This year, 4 more people committed suicide than in 2021.

Estonia had 14.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.19 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 193 recorded suicide cases in 2022, 147 were men suicides and 46 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 23.2 per 100,000 men and for women 6.6 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 20 homicides in Estonia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 9.7 suicides.
