Number of suicides increases in Denmark

In 2018 around 590 suicides occurred in Denmark, 1 more than in 2017. In Denmark, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Denmark reported 10.17 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.42 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 590 recorded suicide cases in 2018, 430 were men suicides and 160 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.85 per 100,000 men and for women 5.5 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Denmark suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 58 homicides in Denmark, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 10.2 suicides.
