Of the 1,460 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 1,101 were men suicides and 359 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.58 per 100,000 men and for women 6.38 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cuba suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 684 homicides in Cuba, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.1 suicides.
