In 2022 around 40 suicides occurred in Cyprus, 14 more than in 2021.
Cyprus reported 4.34 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.18 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 40 recorded suicide cases in 2022, 29 were men suicides and 11 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.46 per 100,000 men and for women 2.33 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cyprus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 8 homicides in Cyprus, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5 suicides.
