In 2005 around 2,081 suicides occurred in Cameroon, 90 more than in 2004. In 2005, on average 6 Cameroonians committed suicide every day.

Cameroon reported 11.73 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.34 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 2,081 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 1,604 were men suicides and 477 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.68 per 100,000 men and for women 5.49 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cameroon suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,002 homicides in Cameroon, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.1 suicides.
