In 2022 occurred 3,589 suicides in Canada. This year, 177 fewer people committed suicide than in 2021. In 2022, on average 10 Canadians committed suicide every day.

Canada had 9.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.13 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 3,589 recorded suicide cases in 2022, 2,686 were men suicides and 903 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.9 per 100,000 men and for women 4.6 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Canada suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 874 homicides in Canada, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.1 suicides.
