Bulgaria - Intentional self-harm

In 2005 occurred 982 suicides in Bulgaria. This year, 31 fewer people committed suicide than in 2004. On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

Bulgaria had 12.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.34 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 982 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 727 were men suicides and 255 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.4 per 100,000 men and for women 6.4 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bulgaria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 199 homicides in Bulgaria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.9 suicides.
