There are 16 suicides per day in Viet Nam

In 2007 occurred 5,714 suicides in Viet Nam. This year, 242 more people committed suicide than in 2006. In 2007, on average 16 Vietnamese committed suicide every day.

Viet Nam had 6.69 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 5,714 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 4,317 were men suicides and 1,397 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.36 per 100,000 men and for women 3.24 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Viet Nam suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,168 homicides in Viet Nam, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.9 suicides.
