In 2007 around 1,126 suicides occurred in Sweden, 71 less than in 2006. In 2007, on average 3 Swedes committed suicide every day.

Sweden reported 12.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,126 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 801 were men suicides and 325 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.6 per 100,000 men and for women 7.1 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Sweden suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 111 homicides in Sweden, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 10.1 suicides.
