In 2023 around 1,370 suicides occurred in Sweden, 75 more than in 2022. In 2023, on average 4 Swedes committed suicide every day.

Sweden reported 12.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.14 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,370 recorded suicide cases in 2023, 974 were men suicides and 396 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.8 per 100,000 men and for women 7.4 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Sweden suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 121 homicides in Sweden, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.3 suicides.
