In 2007 around 3,263 suicides occurred in Spain, 17 more than in 2006. In 2007, on average 9 Spaniards committed suicide every day.
Spain reported 7.27 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 3,263 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 2,463 were men suicides and 800 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.12 per 100,000 men and for women 3.52 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Spain suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 482 homicides in Spain, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.8 suicides.
