Of the 2,225 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 1,883 were men suicides and 342 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.71 per 100,000 men and for women 3.39 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Romania suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death.
