Peru has a low suicide rate

In 2018 occurred 527 suicides in Peru. This year, 143 more people committed suicide than in 2017. In Peru, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Peru had 1.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.42 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Peru has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 527 recorded suicide cases in 2018, 371 were men suicides and 156 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 2.3 per 100,000 men and for women 1 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Peru. However, in Peru in 2018 there were there were 2,452 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 4.7 homicides per suicide.
