In 2005 around 3,453 suicides occurred in Pakistan, 1 more than in 2004. In 2005, on average 9 Pakistanis committed suicide every day.

Pakistan reported 2.19 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.34 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Pakistan has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 3,453 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 1,900 were men suicides and 1,553 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 2.11 per 100,000 men and for women 1.84 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Pakistan. However, in Pakistan in 2005 there were there were 9,782 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.8 homicides per suicide.
