Suicides fell in Panama

By 2015, suicides in Panama increased by 21 people to at 216 suicides

In Panama there were 5.44 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.49 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 216 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 195 were men suicides and 21 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.83 per 100,000 men and for women 1.09 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Panama. However, in Panama in 2015 there were there were 471 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.2 homicides per suicide.
