Of the 814 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 634 were men suicides and 180 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 23.57 per 100,000 men and for women 6.52 per 100,000 female.

By comparison, there were 729 homicides in Nicaragua, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.1 suicides.
