New Zealander had 11.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.41 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 560 recorded suicide cases in 2016, 415 were men suicides and 145 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.8 per 100,000 men and for women 6.1 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In New Zealander suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 50 homicides in New Zealander, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.2 suicides.
