Honduras - Intentional self-harm

In 2005 occurred 262 suicides in Honduras. This year, 33 more people committed suicide than in 2004.

Honduras had 3.51 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.34 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Honduras, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 262 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 169 were men suicides and 93 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.41 per 100,000 men and for women 2.49 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Honduras. However, in Honduras in 2005 there were there were 3,212 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 12.3 homicides per suicide.
