France had 12.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.41 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 8,603 recorded suicide cases in 2016, 6,583 were men suicides and 2,020 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.41 per 100,000 men and for women 5.86 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In France suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 779 homicides in France, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11 suicides.
