Suicides fell in Cyprus

By 2016, suicides in Cyprus increased by 4 people to at 36 suicides

In Cyprus there were 3.88 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.41 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 36 recorded suicide cases in 2016, 31 were men suicides and 5 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.75 per 100,000 men and for women 1.14 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cyprus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 13 homicides in Cyprus, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.8 suicides.
