In 2007 around 3,608 suicides occurred in Canada, 97 more than in 2006. In 2007, on average 10 Canadians committed suicide every day.

Canada reported 11 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 3,608 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 2,726 were men suicides and 882 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.7 per 100,000 men and for women 5.3 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Canada suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 597 homicides in Canada, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6 suicides.
