In 2005 around 307 suicides occurred in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 12 more than in 2004.
Bosnia and Herzegovina reported 7.99 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.34 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 307 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 245 were men suicides and 62 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.99 per 100,000 men and for women 3.18 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bosnia and Herzegovina suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 70 homicides in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.4 suicides.
