In March, vehicle registrations in United States grew by 6.48% with respect to March of 1986. In total, 1,381,700 cars were registered and 16,073,200 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 2.93% more than the year before.

- Commercial vehicles sold: 454,700, 12.61% more than in March of 1986.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 927,000, which represents a figure of 3.71% more than in March of 1986.
