The minimum wage goes up in Nigeria

In 2019, the national minimum wage in Nigeria remained fixed at €85.5 per month, that is 1,026 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Nairas, which is the official currency in Nigeria, we can see that, this year, it was 30,000 Nairas and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 12,000 Nairas per month from the previous year, 66.67%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2018 which was 11.4%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Nigeria is in 97 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 116 of the list.
