China rises the national minimum wage

In 2016, the national minimum wage in China remained fixed at €218.1 per month, that is 2,617 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Chinese yuan, which is the official currency in China, we can see that, this year, it was 1,540 Chinese yuan and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 15 Chinese yuan per month from the previous year, 0.98%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2015 which was 1.6%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, China is in 63 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 114 of the list.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) of a country is the minimum amount (lowest salary) per hour, per day, or per month that employers may legally pay to workers.
